Twinson terrace planks are made from wood and PVC. As soon as they are taken outdoors, they absorb more moisture from the air and also from raindrops. Sunlight has an effect on the profiles at the same time. Water stains and dirty edges can form as a result of moisture and the brushed surface. The cause of this is lignin, a natural constituent of wood that is washed out by rain.
This mainly occurs when not all areas of the terrace get the same amount of light and water. The result is lines of dirt and dust that become visible especially when the water has already evaporated. The more light, air flow and water on the surface, the less this phenomenon is noticeable (if at all). This means that in the case of (partly) covered balconies there is more of a need to take the steps described below than is the case with exposed surfaces or pool sides. Exactly the same effect can also be found on wood, stone or similar materials under comparable conditions.
Removing water stains on Twinson (WPC)
Water stains can occur in the area of transition between the weathered and partly covered terrace surfaces. Normally, these water stains can be removed with plenty of clear water and ordinary household cleaning equipment. This effect decreases over time, but cannot be completely prevented. This effect is very slight on surfaces that are exposed to intense sunlight or that are completely rinsed by rainwater. These water stains do not impair the quality of the Twinson terrace planks and are therefore not grounds for a complaint.
Water stains in the area of transition from covered surfaces can be easily removed with plenty of water.
